Stanford White — American architect Stanford White, famously known as one of the founding partners at the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, was one of the most talented frame designers of his time. He designed elaborate and elegant gilt composition frames often used by his artist friends including Abbott Thayer, Childe Hassam, Thomas Wilmer Dewing and Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Influenced by the Italian Renaissance, Stanford White helped revive the tabernacle frame style in America in the late 19th century.
